tumor necrosis factor-alpha polymorphism and susceptibility to multiple sclerosis in the iranian population

چکیده
conclusions the current study adds evidence to the association of tnf-α gene polymorphism and ms in this southern south iranian population which is consistent with the genetic analysis of ms in europeans (games) project reports and these two alleles reported in this study may be one of the genetic risk factor for ms. furthermore, this data can be used to build the iranian gene bank for future studies. results the frequencies of tnf-α*11 (0.25, p < 0.005) and tnf-α*10 (p < 0.005) alleles increased in patients with ms compared with controls, showing a significant difference among the studied population. patients and methods this polymorphism was investigated in an iranian population of 163 native southern people [81 patients with ms according to the poser criteria and 82 healthy controls (hc) with the same age, sex, social, ethnical and geographical features (hormozgan and fars provinces)]. all the controls were nonimmunological, neurological patients. all the cases and controls were chosen randomly and genotyped for polymorphism of tnf-α microsatellite. background multiple sclerosis (ms) is an immune-mediated disease of polygenic etiology. tumor necrosis factor-α (tnf-α) microsatellite as a proinflammatory cytokine is believed to play an important role in the etiology of this disease. objectives the aim of this study was to investigate the association of tnf-α microsatellite sequence variation in patients with ms and its risk factor in the southern iranian population.

متن کاملEvaluation of Tumor Necrosis Factor Alpha Polymorphism Frequencies in Endometriosis
Background The pro-inflammatory cytokine, tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α), is a pathogenic element for a number of disorders. Previous studies have reported that the -1031 T/C and -238 G/A polymorphisms in the promoter region of the TNF-α gene are important factors in reproductive-related disorders. One of the most common gynecological diseases of women during the reproductive years is endo...
متن کاملIs tumor necrosis factor-376A promoter polymorphism associated with susceptibility to multiple sclerosis?
A single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) at position -376 of the tumor necrosis factor alpha gene (TNFA) has been associated with susceptibility to multiple sclerosis (MS) in Spain. However, no association was found in populations from the USA and The Netherlands. Here we investigate the association between the TNFA-376A SNP and MS susceptibility in Argentinean patients with MS. The A/G genotype ...

Objective Signaling molecules such as cytokines regulate spermatogenesis during the maturation of germ cells and apoptosis. Tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) is one of the most-documented cytokines that supports spermatogenesis. We investigated the association of TNFα -308 Single Nucleotide Polymorphism with sperm abnormalities in Iranian population. MaterialsAndMethods This case control study in...
متن کاملAssociation between Tumor Necrosis Factor- α-308 G/A Polymorphism and Multiple Sclerosis: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis
Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a complex polygenic disease in which gene-environment interactions are important. A number of studies have investigated the association between tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) -308 G/A polymorphism (substitution G→A, designated as TNF1 and TNF2) and MS susceptibility in different populations, but the results of individual studies have been inconsistent. Therefore, per...

Background: Tumor necrosis factor α, a proinflammatory cytokine, was found to play an important role with the clinical activity of relapsing–remitting multiple sclerosis and the development of progression. Dysregulation in the expression of tumor necrosis factor gene had been suggested in the pathogenesis of multiple sclerosis. Objective: Our aim was to investigate the relation between tumor ne...
